Ongava/Etosha National Park

After our two nights at Omaanda Reserve, we departed for Ongava Reserve near Etosha National Park. We embarked on this journey by Cessna, with a midway stop in the middle of the desert at Doro Navas airstrip, which took about 1.5 hours of flight time. Then, it was another 50 minutes to our final destination. Along the way, we reveled in the breathtaking views of the rugged landscape.

Upon arrival at Ongava's airstrip, our guide, Jason, escorted us to the lodges. There were only 8 of them, making it an intimate setting. The grounds were fenced, providing a safe environment for us to wander among the cottages, restaurant, and visitor center without encountering any wild animals.

The dining experience was exceptional, with a view overlooking a waterhole where rhinos, elephants, and other animals gathered to drink. We also enjoyed several game drives on bumpy roads, with each sunset turning into a celebration: gin and tonics, alcohol-free beer, and delectable snacks.
